Thank you to all those who joined us for our 2009 New Legislator Orientation at the State House Feb. 5. This bi-annual orientation, organized by The Arc of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council, was a huge success, drawing an overflow crowd and at least 20 legislators. We thank the hundreds of individuals and families who made the trek to the State House to educate their new legislators about the issues facing people with disabilities and their families.

We thank Chairwoman Karen Spilka and Rep. Barbara L'Italien for speaking so eloquently about what legislators can do to help improve the lives of people with disabilities, and Leslie Lockhart for sharing her family story about her daughter, Julia. Finally, thank you to the New Legislators who took the time from their busy schedules to attend. If they are your legislators, please reach out to them and thank them for attending.

See here for more photos of the event as well as photos of our Rally To Restore Services, which was held at the State House immediately after the Orientation.
