Þ June 2009 - House Bill 2116 is before the Joint Committee on Public Health. The Committee has not yet adopted the revised language of the bill.
Data Collection
Þ May 2008 - A focus group meeting was held at the Multicultural Community Services in Springfield with a mix of parents/guardians and long-term support professionals*.
Þ March 2008 - We have wrapped up over 35 interviews with a mix of medical personnel, state legislators, and insurance providers.
Þ December 2007 - Nine focus groups in the Boston area have been conducted with self-advocates, parents/guardians, and long-term support professionals*
*Professions include mid-level managers, senior staff members, nurses, and state agency personnel who can speak to the health care services recipients receive
Collaborative Meetings
Þ August 2008 - Guidance was once again sought from the supportive and knowledgeable Health Care Steering Committee. Members reviewed the research findings and discussed possible policy recommendations.
Þ February 2008 - The Health Care Project Team and Steering Committee joined a conference call with Beverly Roberts, Director of The Arc of New Jersey's Mainstreaming Medical Care Program. Ms. Roberts provided insight on the project she has managed for 19 years, including how her team sustained long-term funding, etc.
Þ November 2007 - The Health Care Project Steering Committee met to discuss and give guidance on the interview questions. The group continues to be a great team to work with!

"Uniting Together for Healthy Communities", The Arc's health and wellness conference, was a huge success with over 100 people in attendance. Click here to see photos and here to view the breakout speakers' materials.
On February 2, 2009, the Health Care Project releases the report at a briefing event at The Boston Foundation. Panel members who responded to the report's findings included Executive Office of Health and Human Services Secretary, Dr. JudyAnn Bigby, and State Representative and then House Chair of the Public Health Committee, Peter Koutoujian.
The Health Care Project is announced and some initial findings were made aware to residents in The Republican.
