Alert | | It's great that Governor Patrick restored all the 9C budget cuts made by outgoing Governor Romney. One major impact will be raises for direct support staff in the field. In addition remaining cuts in family support, autism services and others will be restored.

Alert | | I hope that the salary reserve checks will be distributed soon. It was disappointing to a lot of us when the staff increases didn't come through.

Alert | Members of the ADDP Board met today, June 21, 2007, in Sturbridge, to discuss priority issues the Association will ask the new Administration to tackle in its planning for the FY 2009 budget and beyond.
Board Members identified four priority areas: Fair and Equitable Rates across all program categories The Closure of State Institutions Efficient and Transparent DMR Business Practices DMR System Reform including wise use of monitoring dollars, eliminating duplication and redundancy. The Association of Developmental Disability Providers will continue to focus its attention on these areas leading up to our annual October Strategic Planning Meeting.
During a recent meeting, our Board Members expressed optimism that with all new players in the Administration, including a new Governor, new EOHHS leadership and a new DMR Commissioner, this may be a ripe time for attention to be focused on developmental disabilities concerns.
The Board also discussed the growing sense within the greater human services community that this may be an opportune time to address rate reform from a Collaborative approach. Members of the Collaborative include the ADDP, the Providers' Council and the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Corporation. Members of each group have been considering a campaign to convince legislators of the need for rate reform in their respective human service community.
