United Disability Housing Partnership is an advocacy coalition made up of more than 60 membership organizations representing a wide range of disability constituencies. The members of United Housing believe that, regardless of the specific nature of a person’s disability, all people living with disabilities share a need for safe, affordable, accessible, and appropriate housing.

What is the solution to the disability housing crisis?

Massachusetts is one of the most expensive states in which to find housing. For persons living with disabilities, it is even more difficult to find a home that is affordable, let alone accessible or appropriate for their needs. Tens of thousands of Massachusetts residents living with disabilities are either unable to find housing, or are living in inadequate residences. What policies can be undertaken to address this crisis? Increased funding for rental vouchers? More construction of affordable housing units? Funding for transportation to make more residential areas accessible to supportive services? Other ideas?
